New surface from Inovan
Looks like modern art? It’s the art of engineering: Inovan was recently granted a patent for a new surface used in the assembly of sensor chips and microcontrollers. These are e. g. integrated in brake systems or power units of electric vehicles. The interconnections of these components to stamped grids made of copper alloys are protected from corrosion by coating with highly valuable metals such as gold or palladium.
The pictures show plated and raw copper after a surface test with precious metal. The tests are adapted according to the requirements. The new surface from Inovan reduces the use of precious metals to an absolute minimum – and less use of precious metal means increased conservation of resources as well as lower costs!
